Taking kids along to a The Cure concert - your experiences?

Sigh, this is a tough one.
Our son will be 5 this month and he refers to RS as "Robert" sometimes. I *swear* I haven't pushed TC on him. He genuinely seems to enjoy them.
I would really hesitate to bring him to a TC or similar show for a few reasons, most of them selfish ones. I like to "enjoy" myself (cough, cough) at shows and I don't want him to witness that "type of enjoyment."
I'd feel like curling up into a crying ball if I had to leave early with him. My husband is so generous and would offer to take him home, I'm sure, but it would no doubt be one of those times only Mommy would do in his eyes.
All this being said, and I know this thread is old and the OP's dilemma is long since resolved, I think this is a judgment call for each parent and child dependent on SO many factors.
