Taking kids along to a The Cure concert - your experiences?

I searched but couldn't find any thread on this topic, so I open this one :-)
My son will turn 8 years old in two weeks, which is when The Cure will play around here in Switzerland and South Germany. I'll be attending at least 4 shows, one is on his birthday.
Today he asked me when he eventually will be allowed to come along because he loves listening to my Cure cds, especially when we're driving in our car. He's been listening to them for about a year, and we sometimes watch Live videos on youtube, so he's quite keen on actually experience this live himself. The good thing is that he can't speak English, because I wouldn't consider the lyrics appropriate for an 8-year old kid.
So my question is: Do you have experience in taking your kids along to a Cure show? Not onyl if you dragged them along when they didn't want to but you no babysitter ;-), but when THEY also liked to go.
If so, how old were they? Are you native English speakers? How was it for you and for them?
I'm not concerned about the noise and loudness, this is no problem, he recently already was at another concert and a party when I was djing, we have special earplugs that work pretty well.
My concern is more towards the massive emotional impression of the combination of sound and light that could be to much to handle for a young brain.
What do you think?
