Anyone care to share what they think is the best method of storage for shows...I have a ton from over the years but they are currently in a few different places (none cloud-based). Old hard-drives, external backup drives etc... I'd like to get them better organized but step one would be figuring out where to put them.
I have them by year, all in the same hard drive. A back up is also a good idea.
This. I have a dedicated external HDD with folders by year, folders for misc collections (demos etc.). I have a whole different folder for videos but haven't split that into years yet, so it's a bit of a mess there It is worth keeping a backup too, just in case the HDD crashes. Data discs work well & if you have a blu ray burner, you can get tons on one disc.

Thanks to both of you. I didn't know if I should think about some cloud-based storage, but as much as I value them all I don't think I want to be paying monthly for piece-of-mind. Maybe I'll just upgrade to a newer external drive.
That's what I would do. Storage is no way near as expensive as it used to be, so picking up a decent sized drive shouldn't cripple you. One other thing you'll probably discover is just how many duplicate shows you have once they're in some sort of order. That'll let you clear out even more space.

Agreed. I find myself on Dime downloading ones that people say are great but I have no idea if they are upgrades, downgrades or the same ones. After I get them organized my next task will be to figure out how to upload a new torrent as opposed to just sharing them. (That is my next read in the tech. section)!
Then open each year and MAKE NEW FOLDERS BEFORE DOWNLOADING THE FILE
Because once you download the file in order to get your dime ratio up you shouldn't change the file location. So I put them in folders of their own so it looks neat and tidy
I'll make a screen shot.

Thanks very much. My problem (as it relates to this subject!) is that I have a lot downloaded but then I moved them. I am not torrent-comfortable enough to try and reseed them on my own somy goal is a clean slate going forward so I can keep sharing without worrying about space. Good summer project I figure.
If you haven't altered the torrents in anyway you can move them back to your download folder - copy and paste them, then if you download the same torrent again your uTorrent (or whatever you use) will perform a "re check" and start seeding those torrents.
