I have an iPhone and have, back on the boat in Croatia out of desperation, signed up for periscope/twitter. I tried out a scope at someone's recorder lesson the other day (be glad you missed it! haha), and I think I am ready to scope a couple songs from my concert this week.
Any pointers? There is a dearth of information about scoping on the net. Point and shoot. Got that, but should I avoid turning the phone sideways, should I leave the ringer on (does it affect volume), should I aim to get onto the hall's wifi? I am pretty clueless. Of course I have 3G, but it seems to be an issue for others and I am trying to be as prepared as possible. Am I forgetting some crucial step? *I have the microphone on in the settings for periscope.
Any tips are welcome. *Oh, yeah, and if snuffybear is there, let me know. She is all the forum needs!
As far as I know, the phone will auto orientate, but some phones will stick in the orientation that the scope was started in for some reason. If you're using 3g, it could be quite spotty in terms of speed, so if you can get on the venue's wifi the speed should (theoretically) be better & the broadcasts less likely to hang & drop connection. Also, be very wary if using your own data plan. a 30 minute scope will munch up about 400mb of data (more if you have a higher def camera).

Every venue I've come across with wi-fi this tour charges a rather hefty amount to use it!

Yeah, in Budapest to log in you needed a voucher. But there was no info on where to get them. Interestingly they had 2 wifi SSIDs operating. The_Cure_Budapest_Arena & the regular arena SSID.

Was exactly the same last night mate, I checked because I was having such bother with my connection. In Frankfurt it was 10 or 12€.
I think that is steep, but depending on your personal data plan, could work out a better deal. Especially for those roaming. That guy from Texas that did the Rome show would have probably taken that charge in a heartbeat over whatever it would have cost otherwise. Extreme example, but for anyone scoping it's definitely worth checking the costs out before the itemised phone bill needs a fed ex truck to deliver it

Oh geez! I had no idea. Hopefully this info is easy to find. I will scope a couple songs if it all works out.
