At the end of the second Nola show he said something along the lines of "Should I say see you again?" I am (probably wrongly) seeing that as an acceptance of his/ their own mortality. A sort of "Who knows?" kind of thing. This song itself seems to embody the mortality of someone & the profound difference (including some confusion) them not being around makes.
