Hello all. I'm new to board but am a longtime fan. Probably since "Head on the Door" & some singles before that even. I was in the music industry in Seattle for 25+ years, working in distribution. I got to be at ground zero during the infamous grunge years. Lot of stories & memories. Nirvana, PJ, etc. in very small venues, etc. Since the biz went kaput, I've landed at a certain multi-national aerospace corporate Satan. I'm a ghost in the machine there. I view it as my penance for having a job I liked for so long. Thankful to have a good paying job & especially good insurance. I've seen literally hundreds of shows & bands. The 1 that has eluded me is the Cure. It's my bucket list band that is still functioning. I'm going to Vegas for the Chelsea show & am very excited indeed! i got my ticket from a broker in February & am glad I acted when I did. The Chelsea is a very small venue for the Cure & am hoping we get a special show. It's going to be a good music week for me as I'm seeing the Who on Sunday, 5/15 in Seattle then taking a few days of staycation before leaving for Vegas on Wednesday. Hope to meet some other fans down there. Also, really excited to see Reeves Gabrels play with the band. I saw him with David Bowie several times & he is a phenomenal guitar player. I'm really hoping we get a nice Bowie cover in the set. Don't think its at all out of the question. That & a full album performance of "Disintegration". Haha. Anything will be fine.
Well it's nice to have you on board & maybe you have some cool stories about your time in the biz
Here's one: I actually got to meet David Bowie, albeit briefly. It was a meet & greet on the hits tour with Adrian Belew. He actually stopped & said hi which wasn't the case with everyone. Also, later, during his last tour there was a video on his website of the band stopping at a truck stop in Montana. During the vid David & Earl Slick were going through the rack of music in the store commenting on how cool the selection was. I had put that rack together out of Seattle & was very proud of that! Will share more in the future. I have diverse musical interests & try to keep an open mind. Don't want to put out all at once, as I'm older & not quite as interesting now, haha. Don't think the posters would be interested in airplane components too much. I know I'm not!
Hi and welcome! I hope the Vegas show is everything you want it to be (it will )!! That venue does seem pretty cool...and maybe you can run into some of the band in the casino afterwards.
Just want to say I'm very impressed with this site. People have been extremely friendly right from the start. There's a lot of fun & good information here. I like the international feel, also. I'm a bit of a caveman on the social media thing. No Facebook, Twitter etc. I spend so much of my life on computers at work that when I get home sometimes its tough to sign on. Not to mention my fingers don't work as well as they used to from arthritis. I do post on a few other sites but nowhere has the welcome been as instant. I will say IORR (Stones) is quite good once you get in. Also like 3 Dimes Down (Drive-by Truckers) & Via Chicago (Wilco) but they have an unfortunate Hateful Fred (Grateful Dead, bleh!) contingents. Those folks seem to kind of take over & if you're not into it, it gets tedious. 1 of my other favorite bands is the Flaming Lips & sadly their fan forum kind of went away. Anyway, I sense a lot of kindred spirits here & look forward to participating. Cheers! PS: forgive me if I'm slow on the uptake with "likes" etc. Just hasn't been part of my vocabulary to date.
I totally agree there, chuckrh! I've been to other band forums and they were terrible. TCC is different, a very friendly place. But I think, fan forums are fading, most people seem to be on Facebook, twitter et al nowadays...

Here's another social media caveman. I don't even have a smartphone. Those old Nokia are gorgeous, they last forever.
