What a great way to extend a CURE buzz!!! After spending the afternoon with friends on the TCC Prague Live report on Saturday 22nd Oct 2016. I took the opportunity to meet a legend, a founding father of the best band ever, and a man who has most recently wrote an autobiography of his life, Lol Tolhurst. This man needs to introduction!! Well, at least not to all the fans here.
Flying high with excitement, I rush to a small venue know as CASBAH located in the heart of San Diego California. When I arrived, an hour before the doors open, a few true fans lined up waiting for the doors to open. I could feel the sense of excitement in all of them as the shared stories, memories of the times they actually got the chance to see Lol play lived with the band. Not knowing who this people were, I listen and sucked up all the stories that the people around me were discussing. While in line, I notice a guy (Marc) holding a CURE poster and I had to see and hold in my hand. I introduced myself and I had a look at that lovely piece of work that he had. (See attached picture of the poster)
When the doors open, no one made a mad dash to the front, no one pushed each other out of the way, and no one cut in front of the line, unlike some CURE shows that I have been too. We were all very polite and waited on each other as we form in front of the stage. I was hoping that I would have a few minutes to talk with LOL prior to the start of the read but he was no were insight. We waited for at least an hour (see picture) but it didn’t matter as I met some wonderful people. Marc who I sat next too showed me pictures of his CURE memorabilia. He has like at least 40 set list of all the shows he’s been to, including from this year SAN DIEGO, MIAMI, & SALT LAKE CITY. (pictures included)
I also sat next Susan (I think I caught her name right because people were really loud). She had a large collection of pictures of RS, SIMON, LOL, SIMON’s daughter Lily Gallup on her phone and it appear by her pictures that she knew the band quite well. She also told me that Robert had WISH LP named after her. Susan had suffered from a brain tumor at the time and her wish was to meet the band. RS invited her to play on the set of video THE CURE MTV UNPLUGGED!! The girl with the green sweater playing the KAZOO....OMG!! Really I thought I need to get all the details. She even told me that she had a tape that Robert had send her of the show. I wanted more details but that’s when the LOL presented himself. **SPOILER ALERT**
I had read some were that LOL was not going to sign anything at CASBAH and that it was going to be only a read. I took a gamble and took my US copy of the book just in case. Well, it payed off.
LOL singed my book and in those few moment I asked him a simple question." Who's idea was to design the early cure logo..the DROP C?" LOL stated " It was Roberts brother -Richard Smith"

After the signing I looked for Susan but she was gone. She had told me that she was going to hang out with LOL later. Well, folks this is a bit a read but I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have…..
Oh fiveswinglive what a fabulous read and wonderful moment for you! Isn't he a sweetheart? He really truly is. I could not see him denying fans an autograph and a chat. He was so incredibly friendly. I'm so happy for you!!!

Thank you Pipperoo He is such a down to earth kind person. He didn't mind singing all the memorabilia that people put in front of him. I so wish I had my PORNOGRAPHY album with me to get him to sign...fate I guess..

Thank you Pipperoo He is such a down to earth kind person. He didn't mind singing all the memorabilia that people put in front of him. I so wish I had my PORNOGRAPHY album with me to get him to sign...fate I guess..
