Sounds like there's some fun stuff in Queen's vault from the "Under Pressure" sessions.
Bet they played it but didn't record it
Only found out recently it wasn't just the one session - there was a second later session where they overdubbed both lead vocals at Power Station.
Finally finished my live box set today (ordered, last bits not arrived).
It's been the most shameless, poorly planned release schedule you could imagine - even by Bowie back-catalogue standards, an absolute farce! Still smug about completing it tho
I'm thinking about getting one of these. Shocked that they are only $40. Bowie used 1 of these on Space Oddity. Also, he played 1 sitting on the edge of stage at the concert for NYC to start the show with Paul Simon's "America". It was 1 of the all time great concert moments & he went direct into "Heroes" with the band. There were a lot of great performances on that show but I don't think anyone topped that. The bar was set high! I'll have to balance the budget & see if its a good idea.
I have one, proper stylophone but not Bowie branded - fun but the novelty wears off pretty quick
I ordered one. It was actually $10 less on the shipping etc to order it from the manufacturer in England than the Bowie store in the US. & the Bowie store was backordered. I keep hearing bad things about getting some of their items. I did order some socks for a friend & that went ok though. Will be fun as I have a lot of time on my hands. Still locked away in the fortress of solitude trying not to get COVID 19. Delta is raging here & hospitals are in crisis mode. Doesn't bode well for getting treatment/tests for some current issues. Below is link for Stylophone direct if anyone is interested.
Iman is releasing a perfume so there's been a spate of press on her, including an article in the NYT today. It led me to re-read an appreciation from the Times dated Jan. 11, 2016. Almost six years out, thinking about the fact he is gone still makes me cry. (I can't say that about many public figures). For that, I thank him, because there are times I actually think about how I can't cry when I wish I could. "Thanks for making me cry, David!"
Sitting here on the balcony an unseasonably warm and sunny NY day listening to the yellow tree on my left drop its leaves in the wind, I feel like he would love this day.
The way it's worded makes it sound like nothing currently unreleased is included, which is interesting..
Reeves had a fair amount of song writing credits with Bowie which is why I brought it up. I just listened to the new remasters (in the box set) of "Outside" & "Earthling". Those records are (&sound) amazing. Throw in "Hours" & that's a hell of a 3 album stretch. Lot of people don't care for "Hours" but I love that record, too. I also want a Tin Machine box set! When the first Tin Machine came out, Reeves immediately went on my favorite guitar player list & has continued to rise ever since. I think this a side effect of the drugs but I would really love to hear the alleged new Cure record with Reeves playing soon. Side effect for obvious reasons.
PS My top 5 favorite guitar players are (in no particular order): Reeves Gabrels Jeff Beck John Frusciante Nels Cline Mike Campbell/Robert Fripp (tie)
That;s a whole different thread but off the top of my head:
John McGeoch Johnny Marr Prince Joey Santiago Reeves Gabrels would be there somewhere but Bowie had such a high standard - Ronson, Slick, Alomar, Fripp..
