really tanking at the box office. sometimes that's a good sign.
Dunno about it being good sign, in the long term it just means it will be even harder for stuff like this to get greenlit and Villeneuve already has Dune lined up which is an even more challenging story to tell.

i was talking good movie wise. not pandering to the masses.

Didn't the original tank at the box office too?
Controversial position, but I liked this film better than the first. I was much more invested in K than Deckard. Many more thoughts, but don't want to give anything away.

....but there were more classics released during Summer '82 than we're likely to get over the next 5 years - which will be wall to wall Disney multiplex fodder every summer. I like some of those films but they have gone way past saturation point now and there aren't enough interesting alternatives making it to the big screen.
Have just got back from Blade Runner 2049. Mind blown! Absolutely beyond my wildest expectations. I fully expected it to be a bit lame, but not even Jared Leto could screw this up. Perfectly executed artistically & technically. Stunning cinematography, amazing acting and the best Cortana home assistant evvah! If you liked the first one you WILL love this one. Unmissable. #FACT

I don’t think I’m giving anything away to say Jared Leto’s character was the one thing I would have changed in the film (although his acting was fine). Drives me nuts when a character speaks and 90% of it is inane. His dialogue could’ve been much tighter while still conveying the purpose of his character within the plot, imho.

I know there are a few foreign languages dropped in but it tickled me to hear some Hungarian thrown in. The angry old woman in K's apartment building & even Gaff (for some reason) used the word "nyugdíjas".
