I'm facing a David Attenborough wildlife documentary dilemma. We have a host/ubiquity of sparrows that live in the hedgerow that grows along one side of our garden (ok I admit I googled the collective name for sparrows). They are very entertaining to watch especially when having their soil baths outside our kitchen window. Mr Sparrowhawk turned up this morning for breakfast ie our baby sparrows.
What's the dilemma?
Sparrows (most birds really) are great fun to watch. I love it when I see them take dust baths.

Why do they do that? I was recently wondering... Mites?

The dilemma was: do I scare off the Sparrowhawk or do I let it eat one of my sparrows
Disappointed. My local Tesco supermarket used to have a machine for crushing aluminium drinks cans. You could take back all your empty cans, poke them into a hole on the front & you'd get 5 huf for every 10 cans you returned. Not a massive amount but when the receipts added up it was at least a little bit off the weekly shop. Plus, the material was being recycled, which is not a bad thing at all given the demand for aluminium. They've removed it now & have stopped taking aluminium cans for recycling. Idiots.

That kind of stuff is great, really incentivises someone to recycle. I'll hold my hand up and admit I would recycle more if I got store credit for it.
Pukey. Started taking a new poison yesterday. So new that there aren't any ads for it on tv yet. At least it didn't cost me anything for the initial 2 month experiment.
