Hellcat's got smarts in her head, she'll do her best, I'm sure...
The horror stories I can tell of members of the public doing the WRONG thing with baby wild animals would make you seethe all the way into the next century.
Like the woman who fed a young hedgehog mashed potato and humous for ten days and wondered why it was very, very ill (they're carnivores, FFS!!) Or the pigeon squab that had been fed only cow's milk (milk is mammalian baby food!!) It died, btw. And the baby Woodpigeon that had been force fed whole acorns and was brought in with a ruptured crop because - surprise, surprise - it couldn't digest them...
Sheesh...
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
It's very strange .. I am doing all I can do for him He's looking well and alarming friendly for a wild bird. Whistles at me . Shuffles over and then if I offer my hand he climbs on it and snuggles down to sleep.
I've managed to get him to eat wax worms . I have to ( yuk) squish them then I put them on plastic tweezers rubber ends and he tells me when he needs feeding and when he's full. He likes to snuggle up.
I've done all I can he's eating and drinking and growing . I hope he makes it
So ...... swift's suck on humans fingers when they want feeding?
You haven't lived until you've had a baby wood pidge swallow your finger.
Yes, this happened to me.
They have a surprisingly wide gape and are ALWAYS hungry. The little twit lunged out the cage, launched himself at my finger, mouth open, shoved his whole beak and head over my index finger (which went down his throat) and then swallowed.
Weirdest. Sensation. Ever. as his throat muscles contracted and pulled my finger into his crop.
...
I dunno who looked more surprised, me or him!!

That's it death by suction and you can feel their tongues ! He's gaining weight . Your right about finicky I have to do everything a certain way or he won't eat . The grimmest bit is now the wax worms have to be just so which means I have to sniff them !!!!! If
