When I calculate all parameters, Nitzer Ebb are definitely my personal champions in the frame of public underestimation. Such a shame that this band should be mostly remembered only as an opening act for some Depeche Mode gigs. Still, connection with DM was important in some situations, for Alan Wilder (who else?) was a producer of a masterpiece called Ebbhead in 1991. I was 17 when confronted with this album that year and fully exploded. Songs like Godhead totally got me. Reports from UK-summer festival season1991 on MTV guided me through the splendid world of Nitzer Ebb. Although surely champions of EBM, Nitzer Ebb had much more in the package. And some examples of this unique crossover still bear the fruits. They quietly vanished in the middle of '90's but reunited in 2006. Since then, they don't give up, but 1991 will probably stay as a peak forever.
Any impression from you side?

the members from Nitzer Ebb and Depeche Mode are also good friends in real life. NE helped DM during their last tour and played some shows as support act. i saw Nitzer Ebb on their own tour in a small club with about 200 people and 2 days later together with Depeche Mode with about 60.000 people. for me the small club show was soooooo much better because Ebb could play a different setlist and the mood was quite different.
