I always use thetrainline.com, the earlier you buy your tickets, the cheaper they are.
Anybody flying into Heathrow March 29th and planning to use tube to Paddington take heed, there are "engineering works" interrupting your journey - listed journey time is 1hr 6min, add another half hour!! Check out buses or National Express coaches instead, the Heathrow Express takes 15 minutes but is approx' £35 return - pretty expensive.
