Love the Furs yet have somehow never managed to see them live. Hopefully, I will catch them this year.
Saw them recently and they were fabulous. Go.
I have a propensity for saying far more than neccessary...
Pip nailed it..go with that...read ths if you want, don't if you don't....
NOW..Let me fly....
OH boy one of the best gigs of my life was the Psychedelic Furs in London. I was working the weekend at a fair...loooong weeks of prepping...loooooong drive to London..ugly early wake up call for the Saturday show...very little sleep and no drugs in my life since I was 40...twenty years ago a week of no sleep would be a breeeze but these days? I like sleep these days... Mid afternoon someone tells me that the Furs are at the Astoria tonight and I'm feeling ' ah that's like local band in local pub after weeks work innit...Furs in their hometown, I'm going to that gig' So me and Mrs Fink get back to our hotel room after the fair and she doesn't want to go out. She's tired. And I say 'well just kip thrugh the gig, we'll balcony and snooze' and she's 'ok'.
We drive out and find a back alley to hide the van and get cheap tix outside the Astoria and in and WOW what a gig....She bangs wide awake...I'm on fire..this is not like a local band in local pub..this is like a Prince gig.
There is something magnificent about this band that maybe the Waterboys have..maybe the Cure have..but I can't think of another band that has it...they are astonishing.
We got back to the hotel room late late and up ridiculous early for the next day of the 2 day fair before the long drive home.

That was a good weekend.
Go and absorb this band's art. It is valuable.
Thank you both!
I definitely want to go. It's just one of those bands that I never manage to catch due to timing. I won't be able to do the Albert hall gig but hopefully there will be a tour to follow. I love their music and still listen to them a lot.
I was a bit nervous about the new album, so many bands come back after many years trying to recapture glory but release a substandard album.
Made Of Rain is excellent, not a single bad song on it, it's up there with their best 5 albums.
I hope Bob, a furs fan, gets inspired by it, that you can release a new album many years later (furs first album since 1991) that is on par with your greatest work.
