It was a great tour, but it was really good it until she WMS was not quite heavy. I was in Leipzig. But one of the best setlists was probably in Kiel ...
I already said so, it's one of my favorite Cure tour. Great mood on stage and so many surprises: Subway song, Grinding halt, Funeral party, Hanging garden,The kiss, Like cockatoos, If only tonight…, Plainsong,Same deep water as you, Disintegration, Forever… Some of these are quite usual nowadays, but were played for the first time for years in 96'. And a bit less surprising but not least, In your house, Drowning man, Faith and many more. What was real great is that even if you followed the tour, you couldn't know what kind of setlist would be played. An everyday surprise !

I've been fortunate enough to see several Cure tours over the years, and still feel the Swing tour, and Dream tour were 2 of the best tours for song variations per show. I love the album encore concept, too. My Swing tour Show stand out was FairFax VA, as they opened with Plain Song, it was so amazing, and unexpected at the time. It blew me away, and set the tone for a great show.

I know the 1995 shows weren't actually part of the Swing tour but the Glastonbury show was so dull by comparison to previous Cure tours and so much other stuff at the festival was so much better that I stopped paying attention to the Cure for a long time. I've heard some Swing boots but I still don't get why people like it :/

Just heard my tape from Katowice and remember, that was an amazing crowd. Ok during Faith it was bad that everyone was clapping hands but the mood was one of the best
Haven't heard these shows for a long while, I recall Salt Lake City and Houston being the loudest/wildest crowds of the tour, more excited/frantic, the kind of excitement the Prayer and Wish Tour crowds had didn't seem to be there a lot of the Swing Tour shows.
Admittedly, WMS isn't one of my favorite albums. However, a few of the songs have grown on me and, well, Want.
I saw the tour in Washington, DC, and it was a weird venue, as it wasn't an arena but a large auditorium on the campus of George Mason University in the NoVA suburbs... it felt like driving to go over to a friend's house. I lost my car after the show and I remember these two really nice, slightly older lesbians helping me find it.
Anyway, there were two things that made that show really special:
- Robert called Mary live from the stage to wish her a happy birthday - priceless!
- He also went into the crowd and sang Close to Me to someone (sadly, they were too Far from Me to really see!) I would have probably passed out, thrown up, or both.
