The whole tour was immaculate it has to be said. A band really enjoying themselves (presumably still laughing at the cruel joke of an album they were promoting) & awesome sound. Kiel & Vancouver are standouts for me, but I have soft spots for the London & Manchester shows. I was kind of tiddled off that they never played A Forest in London so I went to the Manc show a few days later & it blew me away.
I think that the wms album grew on me (start to like it), after hearing the songs live
Same happened to me with Bloodflowers. The album was really missing something until it was performed. After that it is seriously mind blowing. Some of Roger's best keyboard work there.
Still hasn't happened for me with WMS, although I did tap my toe when they rolled out Mint Car last year in Austin

1996 was the time I was not really interested anymore by The Cure - for what reasons I can't explain ... Therefore I didn't attend any show of that tour, which I regret now ...
In general I see the Swing Tour setlists as very various in styles - just as the album itself. Always have the feeling that there is something missing in the atmosphere - going from Charlotte Sometimes to Round & Round & Round ... come on ... Also I never really liked seeing Robert dressed with XXL hockey jersey ...
But when you look and listen at it, there are a lot of good shows. Definitely worth to listen back to some of this tour.

For me the Chicago show July 20, 1996. It was an ok show...despite it being the first time I went alone to a gig and was sitting on the wrong side so I hardly got to see Simon. Plus with all the tall people all around I could hardly see, so I spent 99% of the show just sitting and listening.
Hhhmmm... now that I think about it....it wasn't such a good show after all.
Hard to say. This problem for me is combination of setlist, atmosphere and quality of recording. Because Prague show, what I only saw, wasn´t good. And (on the other side) I have recordings from 90 Swing tour shows. So, if I can to judge it - great is for me Los Angeles (first show), Salt Lake City, Gent, Paris (Bercy), Kiel an Birmingham.
The best 1996 show for me was the NYNEX Arena, Manchester, England show at December 14

Liked the WMS album less at first listen, the tour was interesting though. It was my first gig seeing them. Somehow still believe the variety of songs performed was because "the end was near once again", kind of a saying goodbye tour. Haven't heard too many recordings of this tour, but enjoyed listening the Bercy show most.
