I agree eduardo What is made is made, nothing can be replaced and every effort to do it could sound bad to the fan ears, so i prefere when a band, now talking about the Boys, takes through the years a different street and goes on keeping it evolving in that way, good or not. Talking about this changes, old school fans, like me for exsample, can't often like the new realises the same way the old ones, but i'm sure peoples who listen first to them and love them would look with different eyes to the band, judging great the the old albums but never criticizing the new ones
Like some of the others I don't believe they have another good album in them, it's never gonna happen it's just the way it is. As long they carry on playing live I'm happy enough.
eduardo Often people here doesn't understand why i criticize the band on some album that's why wilgy Good or bad album is a matter of point of view, what for me can be a good album could be boring for you, they surely have something good to write, but we can't expect it will be how we expect or like older stuff
I would be happy with a new album and/or another trilogy or B side tour but I've had it with the festivals. I absolutely LOVED Reflections. Next to my first Cure concert and the Prayer tour gig it is probably my favorite, not only because of the set list but also because of the intimate nature of the setting. I appreciate aesthetics. I think it is part of the package. There is nothing fun, comfortable, or thrilling about a festival (for me anymore that is) and more often than not (yes there were some rare tunes this year) the set list is geared toward the non-Cure fan and sunny day Cure fan. Yes I know it's cheaper. Too bad. I like the elements of the last several albums so I think it is a bit harsh to say they haven't done ANYTHING good since Wish. I disagree greatly and I have no doubt they can come up with some deluxe tunes for a new album. But I would not be terribly upset if all they did next year was a B Side tour and/or Trilogy. There would be MORE than enough material to keep us happy I'm sure.
Those are some good points about newer fans who only know The Cure from their recent stuff. Paul McCartney has released some really good material since his Wings days (the title track to "Vanilla Sky" comes to mind). Can Robert be creative without his past band members?
I'd like to see a rapproachment with ex-Cures. Not to tour with, but something in the studio.
How about a "Ex-Cure" festival? Those are opening acts I would not mind putting up with.

Funny that you talk about ex members... In late 2000 or maybe 2001, Robert talked about playing every album with its original line up. Like 90% of what he says, this never happened but led to the Trilogy shows. He talked about a new trilogy backstage in Hawaii this year but never mentioned a B-sides tour. About a 84'/87' trilogy, as I don't really like half of The head & about the same of Kiss me, I would prefer a real tour. These 2 or 3 last years had their lot of surprises: Do the hansa, Just one kiss, Fight, Banana fishbones, Birdmad girl, The top, Stop dead and of course, Burn. Robert know that's what fans are expecting. We can only hope...
I took a nap listening to the Deluxe edition of Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. I guess I was wrong about there being nothing released in the past 20 years I love. I think of all the Cure demos as new songs, new releases. For instance, I think the demo of "Hey you!" is much better than the released track. These are all new songs to me. Like this demo for Icing Sugar:
I love the "Join the Dots" 4-disc set, and I bought all the 2 disc Deluxe reissues (3-disc, in the case of Disintegration).
Probably one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard from The Cure was their 1993 release of "Paris". And that was after Wish.
That was a charity album release. Perhaps we can get a Reflections or 2013 concert released for some charity?
I was already listening to bootlegs when Paris was released. I had this boot called Parched Corn, listen to The figurehead from Herenveen on this and you'll understand why I was diapointed by the Wish tour as well as the 2 live albums from it. That's just a musical point of vew after all...
All in all, I don't think they will just have another "festival" year in 2014. But it is possible that they will take rest, like in 2010. If that is an option, they really should release something, like Disintegration Deluxe in 2010.
An impression of sound Then everything is gone Forever
I'd like to think they have one great album left in them, although I doubt it. I don't have a problem with that though, really. Most bands manage about 3 decent albums tops before they go off the boil, The Cure managed two or three times that, and their star burned for a lot longer than most of their contemporaries. And you can't expect a vastly wealthy and I imagine quite comfortable and happy middle-aged man to have the same kind of artistic and creative drives that led to Pornography, Disintegration, etc. I would like RSX to keep writing and performing new stuff so they don't just turn 100% into a 'greatest hits' band, but I don't necessarily expect it to be very good! Oh and SMALLER shows please! So they don't have to try and keep 30,000 festival kiddies happy and can go into that amazing back catalogue a bit more
This is EXACTLY how I feel and i've been saying this for ages. Robert is a well off, middle aged sex God I mean man and is naturally not writing material from the same perspective as he was in his younger days. That's totally fine and I accept that. He does still come up with the odd cracking song though. I think it's important he keeps his creative juices flowing and still write, especially if it's an outlet for him. But you know, he has ALOT he could be working on right now like DVD's etc...he's got enough to keep him busy without a new album. Although I of course wouldn't object to a new album with the new line up.
I don't want a new album as I fear it will be another step back, the best we can hope for is "Wish Deluxe" or a re packaged Cure In Orange. Roger has his own projects so a Cure tour may not be possible for him, maybe it's time to give Perry a call ... or, give up.
