The discussion on Currently Wondering about foreign languages brought to the idea to open a thread for it So what lanuages you do you speak, expect your mother language of course. And what language would you like to learn someday? I'm learning at the moment Spanish and i have to say it's difficult for me, but i hope can speak it well after the course Mmmh, i have to learn a second language to catch up the university-entrance diploma. Nevertheless i wanted since a long time to learn it.

I walk wondering why, the same dream so many times
I love learning foreign languages. I speak Engl, French, Russian and Latin (well...I don't realy "speak" it but I had to learn it as I'm a historian and I hope, Cicero et al. are burning in hell) and I started to learn Italian once but then I graduated from university and had to start working...
i like learning foregner languages too i'm self thought english speacker, i understand spanish and a bit of french and romanian if it's not quickly spocken german and other nothern european languages are too difficult for me
French must be very difficult. Nevertheless i want to learn it someday, even if i have tough time of it with this language
french is a bit strange for me to write, but when i read it can easily understand it, same for spanish, but spanish has more words and ways of saying similar to my mother sublanguages
for the record great par of italy was under spanish dominion in he middle eve and still here on the Rock we celebrate "sa die de sa Sardigna" in memory of a storical revolution to gain the fredoom against spanish
I'm learning French at the moment. I posted in the "mobile apps" thread that I am using Dualingo. I find it useful because it uses "strength bars" to remind you when you haven't recently practiced certain topics. Also, it makes you practice to French, from French and uses both text and audio.
I don't find French too difficult tbh. If you're looking for a little challenge (and REAL grammar) start learning Russian. But it's a wonderful language really! And the Russian classics are just awesome, Pushkin, Dostoevski, Tolstoi, Turgenev, Bulgakov...now that's literature!
I've learned French a short time in school and i had difficulties with it. Don't have the ambition to learn Russian it's too difficult for me and it's only spoken in Russia First i'm learning Spanish and then someday French

silversand, I didn't mean to tell you to learn Russian. Haha, I only answered your question and gave my opinion on the learning foreign languages matter. I love Engl., French and Russian, love speaking these languages, reading, hearing, getting better at them.
But Russian isn't only spoken in Russia, it's also spoken in a few other countries.
German and English. And Latin pretty well. That helps a little bit with French and Italian, so I can go around there also for a while. Some Greek from my time in Athens, but I will lost it soon, it seems, for I don't have a chance to speak a word of Greek here in Bern. And situation with my mother-language is very special. It used to be Serbo-Croatian. Now it's Serbian, but Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin are pretty the same thing. Nevertheless - now instead of that one, I speak four languages. And I can pretty well understand Slovenian and Bulgarian. When I get a little bit more time (in 2049, most probably) I will definitely turn to French, for I really praise it so much. Regarding the details in the frame of the use of words to describe something precisely - German is far above English or Serbo-Croatian in my opinion. In the same time German is much harder to master than English.

german?! you just pronounced the word precisle as they are spelt.
german for danish peole are quite easy.
I remember this sentence from my german classes in school: "Ich bin Bo(ø)se und knallen mit dem tur" which in danish sounds pretty much like:"i´m gay, and i´m forking the bull"
The world is neither fair nor unfair - It's just us trying to feel that there's some sense in it

Well, your German sentence there has several mistakes, but that not makes translation different.

MW: What? Did you mean to say "Ich bin böse und knalle die Tür?" maybe?
laperouse: My first big love was from Serbia (Niŝ) and I managed to pick up a few words and sentences but I always ended up speaking Russian. I thought about starting to learn Serbo-Croatian but then we broke up.
