Would I be a terrible person if I declared a sand war on a five-year old ? Yesterday, I came home with sand in nearly every crevice of my body because the little stinker was having a bit too much fun playing in her sandbox. Despite having a super long shower afterwards, I was still crunching on sand all night long ! 🤢 All is fair in love and (sand) wars right ?

Sand boxes were created by the devil. They are only good for stray cats using as a cat box. Sand is every parent's worst nightmare.

Is it just me, or is it weird that my boss would like to create a WhatsApp chat group using our personal numbers ? Unfortunately, everyone on my team seems to support this initiative, expect for me. I guess I’ll just shut my mouth and tow the party line, but I’m doing so begrudgingly. *grumble grumble*

This sort of c@rp is non-negotiable for me (easy for me to say when I’m not in your position). My boss asked us about doing this and I voiced my disapproval. She ended up relenting.
IMO there are no longer good boundaries between our personal lives and work and it’s certainly not healthy.

I work in a pretty toxic environment where any form of perceived insubordination is punished, usually in some passive aggressive fashion. Seen it happen over and over again in my thirteen years here. It’s an ugly, viscous cycle; good thing I don’t take it as seriously as I once did though. I don’t wand to rock the boat more than I have already, I’m currently on the Shirt list for expressing my views on another matter. Grateful that it provides me with a paycheque and health benefits, but that’s about it. ( Btw - I’ve had a foot and a half out the door for a few years now. )
Good on you for sticking to your guns, I think it’s a very brave thing to due, especially if you’re receiving pressure from above.

Well, I’m not sure so brave. Since I work in a collective, theoretically we all have a say. I’ve known my boss for ten years in various different work settings, and am thankful she seems to respect me. In most work situations, that’s *not* been the case,
It’s gotta be hard for you to stay in that environment, Danielle. My wish for you is that something wonderful comes along and you can tell them to pi$$ off!!
@notkristie -I often find it more difficult to deal with people I’ve know for a long time than with people i barely know, particularly in a workplace settings( I find it a bit uncomfortable), so good on you I say!
Btw - You are awesome: thank you for all the support and kind words you give me, it means a lot !

If it was work numbers, I'd be okay with that, but nobody gets to lay claim to my personal number unless I give explicit permission or choose to give it to somebody. I think there are laws for that aren't there?

I’m sure there are laws in place for this kind of thing, but management avoids any chance of misconduct by presenting this or really any other initiative as ‘voluntary’, I know damn well that if I ‘voluntarily’ decline to join their WhatsApp group, that I’ll be punished in a passive-aggressive manner. I stood up for myself a few weeks ago on another matter, and as predicted, I’m currently being punished. I’ll get my revenge on them in a few months when I put in my request for a sabbatical, which is protected under the collective agreement.
How many band members can 'leave' all at once and it still be the same band? And how are you supposed to drum up enthusiasm for the new line up when at least one of the departed is a bona fide genius?
...if bin & bin bag manufacturers ever actually talk to each other.
Stingy bag manufacturers
Well at least one of them is stupid. The bags are either way too big or are, & this is the most irritating thing, just that tiniest bit too small in that you really think you can get away with stretching them just those few millimetres to make them fit &.....they rip. What the heck is that all about?
