I have to work 8 days at my normal work this month - and two saturday-calls-from-home and 4 days at my other work
Usually the boss at the private hospital texts all of us extern coworkers in a group, but lately I get personal texts from her: hi Helle, can you come this and that date
I have a suspicion, that it is because I’m the one they prefer for the back and cervical surgery, because eventhough I do all kinds og surgery there, I usually do columnas...
But I still feel that I’m going behind the other extern’s back... And since a lot of the externs also are my colleagues from where I woek, I have stopped talking about working at the privatehospital, because they might wonder why they didn’t get the offer...

Personally, were I having surgery I'd love the surgeon to hand pick staff they felt were going to be the best fit for the job. No shame in your being the one getting the requests. You aren't slighting your colleagues in the least, in my estimation. Good for you!

Currently wondering what people think yelling at retail employees will actually achieve... (Can you tell I work in retail and Christmas is approaching?)

i used to work retail support for many years. i still don't like the holidays & generally avoid them. they just tend to depress me.

Yeah, it seems to bring out the worst in people, probably due to stress, but that's no excuse to be mean to people.
CW if all our friends state side are okay & staying away from the shiatstorms hitting the streets in multiple cities right now
things are pretty tense. Seattle is under curfew between 5 PM & 5 AM. they aren't really enforcing it though unless there is a problem. a few nights ago there was a riot downtown with looting & fires set. i think the COVID-19 is exacerbating the situation. as in the past, what started as a peaceful demonstration turned into something else when a bad element showed up combined with police overreaction. the part of town i live in had an entirely peaceful protest with no incidents. probably because we are somewhat cut off from the rest of the city now. i'm across the bay from downtown & the high rise bridge connecting us is in danger of collapse. it's closed & will remain so for at least 2 years if they can do a temporary repair. longer if they have to go immediately to replacement. the alternate detour routes are already a nightmare during the week & it will be armageddon when things get to the new normal. our transit system is ludicrous & inadequate. really glad i don't have to deal with a daily commute anymore although i do have to deal with it for doctor appointments, etc.

We're OK here. We live within walking distance of Barclay's (site of TC's R&R HoF induction ceremony) and can see it from our roof. Mr K took his bike out last night for his daily ride and went by there (ahem, I had told him I thought he should steer clear of the areas of protests from the night before). He said it was awash with journalists, who numbered about 20 for each actual protestor. But that was early, around 8:00.
I wholeheartedly support the protestors, but with a young child, I am steering clear. I'm just back to wearing my black arm band, which I also wore after a particular election. Who are the figures who can help channel all the energy and rage, as in the times of MLK, Jr. and Malcolm X?
turns out things got a lot worse last night. cars were burned last night downtown & the business core was severely damaged. it's one thing to support the original message but quite ignorant to support the hooligan element. same thing happened here during the WTO riots several years ago. i did get get caught up in that one in a little trying to get back to my car after a basketball game. i remember getting pissed off at Patti Smith during that time cheering on the anarchists. she was in NYC & had no idea wtf she was talking about. my favorite image from then was "protesters" doing destruction on n!ke Town while wearing n!ke shoes. there's something more than a little off with that.
