I used to be able to use twitlonger when I used a 3rd party Twitter app (twitbird), but then the app ceased to be supported by Twitter so it became useless. I've not found another 3rd party app that was as good so I'm stuck with the official Twitter iPhone app, which doesn't seem to support longer tweets, annoyingly
