Yes! But not with The Cure or Led Zeppelin. I never get sick of them. I liked U2 a lot when I was in my 20s. I still like the older stuff but the new stuff no. I liked some top 40 stuff now I hate it. I think we get sucked in by the fluffy musical hook then after a few listens we can't understand why we listened to it once!
I feel like that just with songs, and with more moderate feelings. when I hear a new album the songs that I like at first, I find less interesting after a couple of times of listening. and the songs I end up really liking I wasn´t so fond of in the beginning.
The world is neither fair nor unfair - It's just us trying to feel that there's some sense in it
well i used to listen to lot of punk rock in youth (Exploited, Pistols, Damned, Clash), hard core(Dead Kennedy's, GBH some SOD and DRI) and alternative(what in Italy they used to define "new wave", U2, Simple Minds, BAD) and lot of Goth music(when i say "lot"...believe me it was a lot ). i hated Heavy Metal now i appreciate some old Metal and NuMetal band and stopped to listen to punk rock(it bores me!) and i find hard give a try to a new band or buy the new album of a band. generally i miss enough time to listen to an album in the right way, playing it loud and in a religious silence. it's too hard beeing father and husband, staying out of home 12 hours per day
yep mook i think has we all get older our musical tastes expand and change , in my youth i would only listen to a narrow band of music and everything outside of the genres i liked was deemed crap (these being anything outside indie/alternative or metal/rock) . now has i have grown a little older my tastes have expanded , like my waist , in to appreciating music from other genres . if you told my younger self that i would love listening to country music along with ebm/idm and the dancier side of industrial i would have told myself in a not so polite way to go and loose myself .
i still don't listen to the top 40 or most/nearly all pop music , even though the odd track doesn't seem too bad but not good enough to buy . i don't listen to radio because i can't control what is being played and out of every 20 tracks i would probably only like 1 .
also without turning in to your parents , you have to learn to appreciate what your kids like , you may not like it yourself but did you instantly like the music that you heard your parents play , i know i probably didn't .
there are lots of music that i listened to years ago that i wonder now why i listened to that drivel , but like your taste buds and clothes , and like the british weather , changes overtime . what i think is that everything you used to like shaped you in to the person you are today and that hearing it again transports you back to another time and place . some memories are good , some are bad but all are unique to you . it took me along time to appreciate that music in the past that i listened to has made me the person i am today .

Often comes from the roots of the genre, and is found through liking bands that were influenced by bands I already like.
When I was young I liked modern rock/alternative rock and some bad pop punk bands, through these bands and their influences I discovered The Smashing Pumpkins and 90s alternative rock, and through the musical acts that influenced them I began to delve deeper into alternative rock, to the beginning, to post-punk and gothic rock as well , and I fell in love with The Cure's music along with many other bands of the time.
I believe you get a better appreciation of the genre if you go back to the beginning.
I have also done the opposite; Kate Bush is one of my favourite musicians and through her music I developed an appreciation of Tori Amos, who is another favourite of mine.

For me personally music is always in my life but I don't like the same music all the time. Right now I'm really strongly into Scandinavian Jazz and World Music esp. from Africa but then after maybe listening to Papa Wemba (Zaire) I suddenly want to listen to some Pearl Jam or Paul Weller and then I go back to 60s Stan Getz.
In my teens I was a real music nazi and condempt people with "bad taste" like the guys and girls listening to Pet Shop Boys or Bee Gees, etc. but now it all depends on my mood.
