So there's this radio show on one of NRK's (Norwegian equivalent of the BBC) radio channels called Transmission (yes it's named after the Joy Division song) that focuses on eighties music, primarily eighties alternative/non-mainstream and The Cure show up there a lot. Today's episode was on the host's favourite post-punk drummers and Boris Williams got 4th place
(The complete list was: 5. Mel Gaynor 4. Boris Williams 3. Budgie 2. Stephen Morris 1. Pete de Freitas)
How on earth did Stephen Morris come in at number 2?

Well it was just a personal list and I don't think there was much of a heavy reasoning behind the places as he said that you could probably argue that each of them deserved the top spot for various reasons. What he did say was that while Stephen Morris was the least technical he was the most influential of the drummers and he went with Pete de Freitas as number one because his "emotionality and musicality". Gaynor got props for his sound and scale, Williams for his well-roundedness, catchyness and ability to make the complex sound simple and Budgie for his general ability, musicality and ability to make the drums fit the songs and vocals.
trentemøller used some very familiar words on this one, so obvious the reference it can’t be coincidence. “move slowly through the drowning waves, i close my eyes, the walls crash down”, “sink deep in the night” and “too many tears” ...
I was staring into space feeling claustrophobic at the crush of parents waiting for the school yard to be unlocked for dismissal. My eyes locked onto a black with yellow logo (never seen it before) TC tee-shirt on a guy walking by. Before I could stop myself I blurted our (to myself), “A Cure shirt!” People standing around me must have thought I was drunk. I complimented the guy before he had completely walked by me. I hope he didn’t think I was being “fresh.”

Reading a comic book about the hard years of the separatists fight from the Basque Country against the Spanish goverment. One of the main character, a young politician, was a Cure Fan.
