Funny, I like the self-titled very much. Especially the first to songs. It wasn't quite what I expected when I first heard it, but I instantly liked it.
Unfortunately most of the Wild Mood Swing and 4:13 album ...
Disagree. Both of those two records have got a lot of good moments. If you ask me (and it is ironic in a way) I think the weakest record of The Cure is . . . the self-titled. I don't mean that I don't like it though because I do like it. Love them all. They are unique in their own existence.

Yeah, I think the self-titled gets a bit to much knocking. Not overly enamoured with the singles & (I Don't Know What's Going) On is dreadful, but the rest of it has some quite clever looks back to earlier material. Lots of Faith & Pronography in the layers. Production could have been better, but otherwise it's a pretty good album.

Figie I would agree I actually really like WMS and there are some songs on 4:13 that are just gorgeous. I feel the same about the self-titled although there are quite a few very good tracks on it. I especially like Lost and Anniversary.
I will put it this way,the song that i do like the least from Robert & co. is this one (Never) Can't think of another one now. But this one makes me feel like something is disconnect about music/lyrics. Not sure if that makes sense. But then again i might change my mind a little later...
