I used to use tapatalk but that got really erratic as well, to the point where I switched back to the proboards app.
Yeah it's showing all kinds of other forums at times when I refresh. It never did that before
You need to choose the forums as your favourites & then they should be the only ones in your list. It can be a tad fiddly, but it is pretty robust ProBoards removed support about a year ago by the way. Must be quite a sturdy app to still work with newer devices/ Os's
