You’ll be pleased to know I met up with an old friend last night who helped me research this one properly.
Heading back south now, our roving minstrels reach Salt Lake City, headquarters of the Latter Day Utah Saints.
The city is renowned to be the Moomin capital of the world where followers are intensively trained in the dark arts of knocking on doors at the most inconvenient times, faking a smile, marrying relatives, wearing a bic biro in their breast pocket & selling books about themselves in a movement known as Moominism.
You need to be very careful with Moomins & take care not to feed them after midnight & under no circumstances get them wet.
God botherers aside, if you happen to own a rubber chicken (frankly who doesn’t?) then the chances are it came from the nation’s leading manufacturer of faux poultry & local legends, Loftus Novelty, supplier of the hilarious props to famous comedians the world over. So revered are they that there is even an anthem named in tribute.
Salt Lake City is also largely responsible for Kentucky Fried Chicken (not rubber) having to change its name to KFC. Having the first ever outlet in the country, it was almost 40 years before someone realised that Utah wasn’t Kentucky. A so history was c̶h̶a̶n̶g̶e̶d̶ made.
So, with a bit of background under your belts, tonight the place will be swarming with fans heading to the arena for tonight’s show & let’s hope they have a wicked time. But not before they’ve tried the funeral potatoes & few Saltfires.
