at first i was sure this one was going to be released at RS birthday ,the 21st of April... then the announcement for the show picture disc came (22nd of April) and then the US live dates'23... Hmmm...so it has to be pushed somewhere in the...new year i guess. Or maybe an X-mas gift? let's say December'23? Wouldn't hurt me.
It is so depressing, we are just in April of 2023 and people already talking (once again) of "the New Year" regarding the release of the album. Of course I did my holy duty as Cure-Fan and chose "Month of Never" in the poll.
I’m not holding much hope of a 2023 release to be honest, more likely scenario is that they will debut a couple more tracks during the US dates and that’ll be it. It’s kind of the opposite of The Sisters of Mercy situation where Eldritch says he dislikes recording etc. but performs new songs all the time anyway. El Bobbo kept announcing that the album was almost ready, the title (obvs), the new logo/artwork (at least on tees & posters) & yet they’ve only played a handful of new songs. I hope to see an album release date poster on the tube someday, then & only then will i believe!

I can bet that « it can never be the same » will be on the new record. I know it s from a previous session but it goes very well with the new ones live and Robert is probably testing the running order of all that. Just my opinion. We ll see 🤞🏻

I thought that too as it really doesn't sound out of place with the other new songs.

...like it was said many times before. I think Reeves said that recently. He also said that having nowadays a possibility to carry with them a modern studio which can be packed into a suitcase, gives them more chances to get the best recordings. They can choose for instance the best guitar solos from the ones they play at the gigs.
Nevertheless, I voted for month of Never.
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.

To have 80 different solos to chose from of every song it is just the cherry on top to have the album released in the month of Nevermber.
I was surprised to see "It can never be the same" back in the setlist as it's from the 4:13 sessions with a different line up. But why would they bring it back for the Songs of a Lost World tour if it isn't on the Songs of a Lost World album? Not heard the song myself but it's known as a quality song so I hope it's on the new album. The ultimate would be "Please come home", their best unreleased song that would suit the new album.
Bob has done it before, bringing "Sleep when I'm dead" in for the 4:13 album from the Head on the Door sessions. But the difference is that "Sleep when I'm dead" was probably originally a Smith composition like all the Head on the Door songs, whereas "It can never be the same" is likely to be credited to all the members of the previous line up.

I agree both would go well with the new ones. Same for A Boy I Never Knew.
But I don't think any of those 3 will be in SOALW, if that album even ever gets released.
