This will be the irst time England & Iran have played each other.

England first entered the competition in 1950 & have qualified for the finals 15 times out of the 18 they have entered. Winners in 1966, semi-finalists in 1990 & 2018, they have also reached the quarter finals on nine occasions.

This will be Iran’s 6th appearance at the Finals. They have never progressed beyond the Group Stage. Iran have won 2 of their 12 matches in the finals and are ranked 20th in the world by FIFA
