It was hardly a surprise. Total label money grab for a low grade slice of coloured plastic that will sound even shiattier than a black slice of plastic because "the kids" all think vinyl's great. Spoiler: It really isn't. What's even more galling is, with all the talk of a global capacity shortage for pressing, there is still capacity for this total rip off vanity bollox that nobody actually needs. Sorry. This has really made me angry.
edit: There is a comment in the replies to the tweet about the digital download versions (via the supplied code) are great. So, in actual fact, the band can release music digitally. A 21st century format.
I don't have the last few picture discs, but I got the download codes from a friend of mine. Faith and WMS sounds really really great on their digital versions. Far better than any other remastered editions (Entreat, for example). Anyway, I think pcture discs are really "prettier" than Flac file... ;D
You know I have to right? I can't buy WMS then justify not buying my favorite The Cure album. I look at them at a $20 work of art. haha Don't judge me!

No judgement here! Don't ever let anyone tell you that something that makes you happy doesn't have value. 😉

I will undoubtedly buy this - Not only is it my favourite Cure album, it's also my favourite album of all time. I already have this on original and new vinyl. I'm a total consumer when it comes to my favourite albums.

What bit rate and resolution are the files? And are you sure they are not the 200x remaster?

They are 16/44.1 wav sets & Faith & WMS were both the Miles Showell remasters. Faith wasn't as bad as the 2005 mess, but still way worse than the original master that was made before the loudness war started. WMS was already terribly mastered to begin and Showell made it even worse sounding.

They are in both 16/44,1 and 24/44,1. They were remastered again in Abbey Road in late 2020. Even they doesn't have a great Dynamic Range, they sound too much better than the 200X remasters. At least to my ears/taste. But, agree with Steve, some songs that "do not sounds good" in original album (Club America, for example), they don't sound good either in this remaster. I insist: at least to my ears/taste.
Ahhh, my local sold out before i could get there… i see copies are aleady on ebay for vastly inflated prices. Hopefully will nab one online Friday when the overstock goes on sale.
