Just announced UK dates for next year and has The Cult as support which is a near perfect night out of riffage and silliness
I can't think of another artist who still does that package tour thing and puts on a proper night out. Not too fussed about any new stuff he releases but so many classics..
Really liked his stuff right up to around '82. Those last three, Special Forces to Dada were just creepy in their weirdness. He had a bit of a turnaround 'round '86 ish and went kind of MTV metal but the 70s stuff was amazing, the late 70s early 80s were off the wall enough. Quite a dude was Alice. And the Cult! What a night out. Right treat.

The latest record, Detroit Stories (I think is title) is really good. Back when I was in the biz I had pit tickets from the label & met Alice after the show. He looked at me & said "I saw you rockin' down there!". Got a bit excited during "Under My Wheels".
Those original Alice Cooper band albums are incredible but yeah, his 80s stuff is a bit like Iggy's - an occasional nugget of gold but a lot of odd, strange stuff. The Desmond Child stuff is al a bit too poppy but there're still moments in there..
Under My Wheels is top tier, Chuck - good rocking!
Never been into him. Grown-up Cooper always looked kind of a bit pathetic to my eyes, sorry.
Any recommendations of wich album(s) should I start with?
That's exactly how I feel about Kiss, who I've never understood the appeal of
Try Killer or maybe Welcome To My Nightmare. They cover all the basics of Alice, great albums!
Alice is a character, so just wouldn't work without the makeup, it needs to be a pantomime. I guess, in principle, someone else could be Alice if Vince didn't fancy it anymore.

Hahajahaja, I love Kiss! So funny.
I guess it’s too late for you and probably you have already tried, but if not, I would say everything up to Destroyer are the classic great records from them. But, all those can be summed up in Alive and Alive II wich captures the band at he height of their powers in the 70’s. I just need those two records from them, as it happens with the Ramones. It’s Alive! Is more than enough for me.
I was fascinated when I was a kid with their look and their live shows (mostly in photographs I must say).
Anyway, thanks you and chuckrh for the guidance on Alice.
Drew Struzan sleeve too! (for the Star Wars nerds)
I love Drew. How about BTTF, Goonies and the ‘one night’ poster of The Thing? The BTTF ones are legend.
Amazing artist. There is a very good documentary about him where he talks -among other things- about the decline of the illustration postere favouring photo posters in the 90’s because well… it was cheaper. And faster.

Sad.
I don't have any Struzan on the walls at the moment but he is one of the greats - I spent a lot of the 90s and 00s collecting vintage original one-sheets and have a few of his. His ROTJ is probably my favourite. Cinema posters are a lost art now, especially painted ones - they're all really horrible photoshop comps.
