Pigeon nests are ridiculous!! Three twigs and a hope. Last year, one made a 'nest' under a bed in a Travelodge!!
My favourite though, are this pair who made a nest of screws and nails on a building site!! The builders are so taken with the pair that they are going to leave them be until the babies fledge. Aw!!
My personal favourite was the pair of wild collared doves who made a nest on the wildlife hospital tractor's seat. Genius. The tractor was out of action for a few weeks and covered in poo.
We also have a pure white fantail pidge paired with a normal-coloured feral who have set up home in a bush right next to the second hospital's front door, so we can all look in on the crazy coloured salt-and-pepper babies that they produce!!
Cheeky blighters must have once been patients at some point coz you'll be helping to attend to an injured creature in the operating theatre and all of a sudden hear the pitter patter of pidge feet in the corridor as one or both of them edge into the ICU in the hope of finding food...
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Ha, the nest of nails is ace! Only a pigeon would see that and think 'des res'
Don't talk of worlds that never were
The end is all that's ever true

It's the male pigeon who selects a nest site and starts to ...er... 'build' the nest. Usually somewhere precarious (ferals are decended from the cliff-dwelling Rock Doves, after all) and sometimes, totally stupid.
I wish you lot could meet the babies though, they are so bloomin' adorable!!!

The most exciting thing yesterday amongst my circle of friends was someone finding an escaped pet rabbit in their garden. She took him in and made him comfy in a makeshift hutch until he could be restored to his rightful owner. Cue major outbreak of bunny broodiness amongst all my female friends! (The men just made jokes about dinner ) How cute is this lil fella though ?
