Rock & Roll hall of fame induction, first South African shows ever (not to mention Croatia, Serbia & Romania), 5 sold out Disintegration nights in Sydney playing previously never before played songs, headliners for Glastonbury, arguably the most famous music festival in the world (along with a couple of dozen large European festivals). Theatre release of the anniversary concert & imminent release of that & Curaetion 25 on blu ray & DVD. Not sure I'd call that "a very poor year" really.
Back on topic though, if a surprise comes, it comes. But I wouldn't hold your breath.
They sounded wonderful live as per usual but the reality is that the new album didn't come out earlier this year and the setlists, as illustrated in this thread, have been very static and samey. Even the person who was doing the setlist stats seems to have given up sometime last month!!

Just out of pure Curiosity, have you attend any of the Festivals yet ? Also have you watched the film in any cinema theatre ?
Wouldn't say so. They've released a lot of tees (Sydney Disintegration themed,Festivals Tour,a couple of new prints,2019 logo they even had water bottles!) Pretty sure they had good sales as well. Except if you mean about their delivery process which (is) has been late.

Yeah I was at Glasgow, I loved it, the band sounded fantastic, I had a total blast 4th row from front. Even though most of the audience were very unreceptive!
No I've not seen the film but I was at the Hydepark show and it was excellent, a great celebration party. It was hot hot hot!!!

Those shows would have been rad. Congratulations on seeing them. I think that the sameness of the setlists played are played to ensure that each “festival fan” has a blast , moreso than a hard core fan going to a festival. The numbers are there. I guess RS thinks the “three hour gloom and doom” sets will be appreciated more by “us” at their promised album tour “soon”.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!

Thanks, seen quite a few since the picture tour. I think I prefer the old Bob who played what he wanted and didn't cater to festival crowds playing the same songs. Surely the people who went to Glasgow were all cure fans who got tickets to see the band rather than wanting to go to a random festival? Unlike the cure's festival audience at Glastonbury. I was excited getting a ticket last year with all talk of Robert's renewed creative enthusiasm and the almost finished epic new album to be released at the start of 2019. I had hopes for hearing all this new album being played in full live and them reclaiming their title as the best band in the world.
But yeah I admit it, I loved the Glasgow gig no matter what they played as I'm a big fan of 99.9% of their songs and they always deliver in concert. Even though they are living off the classic first 10 albums, 3ib-wish, and virtually ignoring the last four!
