These arrived last week. Both boots have the same production issue involving a mangled logo on the back of the platform. No response from New Rock CS as they sit waiting in the box unworn. Next step at the one week mark will be a credit card dispute.
I haven't had a pair of NR's in 20 years and I am disappointed. The plate on the front is plastic and feels super cheap. I am, however, pleased the sole is lighter than the last pair I had, yet feels sturdy. Will consider another brand of boot in the future.

I thought they looked nice but your review has changed my mind.

Yeah, I’m still not sold on the hook-and-loop closures but I take my shoes off a lot. The leather is quite nice and the construction good, otherwise. A lot of poor customer service reviews. It’s sad because there’s thousands of beautiful shoes and boots!
New Rock thoughts: They felt great after wearing them walking around for many hours; pleasantly surprised. Couldn't dispute the charge without returning internationally via post, first. I read many horror stories about people doing that & getting no refund. So, I wore them. Lesson learned. Fark you, NR scheisters.
The soles are very light, but nicely bouncy and feel study/unlikely to split. With marked muscle/joint pain, the last thing I need is to have five pounds strapped to the end of each leg. Not sure about the construction, but the leather is also pretty nice. Given their shiatty customer service and plastic components, though, I don’t really want to buy from them again.
I also recently bought this nice, reasonably priced invention. It's all legal and on the up-and-up here now, but I'm not sure about other localities' prohibitions, I want to be thoughtful. This only reflects my love for loss of brain cells, and not that of anyone else. It's a little humidor. You put a gel packet in the lid to regulate the moisture and there's an indicator dot for when it's time to change the packet (you can tell, regardless). Less than $80 IIRC, great stainless construction. I need to clean it. What's in there hasn't been in long enough to fluff out yet and still looks like breakfast cereal, but it works well.
A new car. Well a used one, but in great condition. Only 6 years old with 53,000 km on the clock. (33,000 miles in old money). Drove it home from Budapest this afternoon & wanted to press all the buttons to see what they all did. But I'll read the manual first i think.

You don't learn anything by reading manuals
I love the manuals. I like to know everything stuff can do & how to make it do that

I spent a good couple years owning my car and not knowing it had many features I could be using...
The owner's manual has opened my eyes to all sorts of stuff. The old Focus was a dinosaur that used to flash random warning lights on the dash that was caused by completely knackered electrics. Used to cal it the disco dashboard. Now this one has all these icons that I need to learn & also learn to actually believe.
