Occasionally mistaken for Budapest by football fans & politicians, Bucharest is, in fact, NOT Budapest & the two should never be confused.
Its name translates as “city of joy” & it is in no way connected to the place that played a major role in I-Spy that shot many scenes on the famous Chain Bridge. Fun fact: The lion statues on the Chain Bridge have no tongues.
Neither was it used as the backdrop for the city of Ev in HBO’s doomed Emerald City series that also featured the famous Castle Hill Funicular.
No siree. Not one bit.
Moreover, if you want to take a selfie with the the bronze statues of Columbo & Dog you’d be in totally the wrong place.
In fact the only thing the two distinctly different cities do have in common is the Danube.
&, hoping they’ve bought plane tickets to the right country, we have sang , paulwUK , wilgy ,ohfuchsia & sat who I understand have been out for Ardei umpluţi & a few bottles of Ursus (yes, it has a bear on the label) before tonight’s musical feast & let’s hope they have a brilliant night despite thunderstorms being forecast.
