Couple of good John Carpenter films if you can find them: his version of "The Thing" is a stunner. "They Live" is a really good low budget one.
I'm not big on super gory films (although The Thing does have some outrageous special effects). These depend more on tension & a sense of doom. Carpenter was a master back in the day. The first Halloween is still the best one IMHO. BOO!
I’ll definitely check out those classic movies. I really like the original Halloween too. I don’t enjoy too gory too, unfortunately, Hostel checked that box.
This is the version of The Thing I was talking about. Came out in 1982, starring Kurt Russell. There's been at least 3 different versions of it. The first one is pretty good albeit cheesy, this is the middle one. The last remake was terrible.

A classic.
The history behind the poster, comissioned to the great Drew Struzan when he was just at the dawn of his career is pretty… “Hollywood”. They asked to do the poster within a day to be delivered. He not only did it, but also created a hell of an iconic poster. Genius.
I highly recommend the documentary on him called “Drew: The man behind the poster”
