Some would probably kill me for that statement but I honestly think it's one of the best Burton's films. A pure grotesque and a big fun with an awesome cast.
edit: I watched it more or less a week after the storming of the Capitol in US and that added another layer and more thoughts even though the film is only a crazy comedy.

I remember seeing this in the theater. A fun movie.

Our youngest has some gaps in his Tim Burton movie-watching, so we screened this for him over the winter break when he was home. Totally holds up for its pure embrace of camp. While I would disagree that it's his best work, it certainly isn't bad.
For sure Phoenix played the role of his lifetime. That was an outstanding show of a total commitment and submission to the character. What disappointed me (although I didn't expect any fireworks) was all the rest. Only the music was fine.

I was captivated by very ascetic way of showing the relationship, it's a kind of direction not giving any comments. The acting is awesome (Glenn Close!).

Is an entertaining movie. But I would say that the only Burton's really good film is Ed Wood.

Yep, a good one indeed. I've got a problem with Burton in general. Anyway, I like some of his movies. I think Batman is also a good one. Call it entertaining but it's much better than Nolan's imho. Some entertainment is not a bad thing at all.
