For their second ever show in South Africa, our boys head on over to Cape Town, named after the trademark flowing garments made famous by Batman, Superman & a raft of super hero copycats.
Situated on the south western edge of the country, town planners were originally going to name it “Edge Town”. But this was thought to be a bit lazy & after researching a pile of old DC comic books during a tea break, officials, totally out of other ideas, suggested “Cape” & so a city was born.
Kaapstad, as it’s known in Afrikaans, is considered to be the Mother City & is the legislative capital of South Africa. It’s overlooked by the iconic Table Mountain which doesn't look anything like a table & sports a small island that was home to Nelson Mandela for 18 years.
It’s the birthplace of Syonide who later went off to find fame in Freeland before being killed by a shoe.
The venue this evening is in the middle of this giant green scalextric thing & although we have no members heading there, we will do our best to bring you updates as the gig happens.
In the meantime, you can get in regional groove by whipping up some bunny chow to munch on with a cold Dunkel to wash it down.
Tonight’s colours? Well the Cape Town flag is a bit weird, so we’ll see what happens.
