They will probably announce the asian and australian part of the Lost World Tour next year. I don´t see the new album coming out Christmas or even spring 2024. My current guess would be second half of 2024. And Reeves vague and going nowhere kind of comments in this May interview did not give me the impression they had worked on the album in the gap between the european tour and the US-Tour. So I would not count on the band being in the studio in the next weeks.

I agree that a Christmas release is almost certainly to be excluded. And spring 24 is also quite unlikely. Second half of 24 is more realistic but at this point the pessimistic part of me is even contemplating the possibility that the whole album thing will just fall apart (never happen).
I suspect we will never get that album. I think because they are on their own it will cost too much to produce in all available formats and if they do digital only they know it will get stolen. Ok so do a special vinyl release. I am not holding my breath anymore.
Nothing of value to add here but just want to say I’m sad you both feel this way. You’re both hella smart and have good judgment, which makes me wonder if my optimism is misguided. OT, sorry.
Your optimism is something that keeps the rest of us off the ledge I think. There's the value. Ordinarily I would find re-issues a minor niggle. But it has been relentless the past few years to the point you can almost set your watch to them. It's like a whole separate industry. Meanwhile we've been teased to within an inch of our lives with some of the best new songs the band has unleashed in decades knowing it would fly off the shelf when/if released. There was even an award ceremony a couple of years back where And Nothing Is Forever was playing when they collected the award. I shouldn't whine so much really. Like I said, as a Sisters fan, I should be more tolerant. But I'm just losing patience. & not just for myself either.
It's beyond embarrassment for the band first saying the new album would be out before tour last September, then doing the SOALW promotion tour without any sign of SOALW album ever being released.
My guess that their next release will be next year, the 30th anniversary picture disc of The Top.
I’m probably wrong, but I don’t think the new album has been permanently delayed because of re-issues. Sorry, but it makes no sense to me. If they had the album ready and they were happy with it, excited to share it with the world as soon as possible, any other project (re-issues, collaborations, mixing other people’s stuff, going to the North Pole, whatever…) would have been put on hold. My guess is that it must be something about the band not being satisfied with the recordings. Or any other reason. Who knows what. Aside from that, the fact that they toured an album that doesn’t exist makes me laugh. Pure genius. I wonder how many huge bands have done that before.
And, from what I read, I must be one of the few Cure fans in the world who are not excited at all with the release after listening the songs in the tour. I’ll buy it and listen to it carefully, anyway. The thing I’m really waiting for is the band’s documentary. I have high hopes on it. Although I’m not sure Tim Pope is the best choice to do it.

Let's make an online rumor that the album has been fast-tracked to release at the end of August.
Someone could say they have a line to someone "close to the band" that can be "confirmed" by someone else who has a line to someone "close to the label", and reach out to all those super excellent music journos in MSM about it.....
Maybe RS will fall for it and just release it on our say-so...
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!

Interesting. I would hazard a guess if you asked them they aren't embarrassed at all. Maybe you're feeling embarrassed for them?
I don't have a great memory (understatement) but I don't recall any official communication saying the album would be out before the European leg. Maybe a "likely" or some similar language, but certainly no promise or definitive statement.
“We will be releasing a new album,” Smith told NME. “I get fed up of saying this now! We will be playing from October and the new album will be out before then."
What me really disappoints is that he is not giving at least an brief update. I can understand that he is tired of being asked about a release date. But it would be very nice after all this time and certainly after his statement above to get to know what the current status is (still mixing the album or does he even have to record some vocals?).

This thread is now officially OT, but I wanted to reply here, anyway. Maybe it will all end up in the right place eventually.
My disdain for all the marketing carp is at an 11 but I just try to tune it out. There's so much that's ridiculous I don't want to wind-up about one more thing that's not important to me. It's understandable to be po'd because of the ongoing disappointment at getting reissues and place settings when we really badly want a new album.
I do remember that award ceremony, steve. It was the one at which RS and SG accepted the honor together, IIRC. Definitely a tease and no accident to use that song.
There's only one song in the new material that I didn't really care for hearing live; the rest I really liked. But I still want the chance to listen to a studio version of even the song I'm on the fence about.
Touring the new material, selling all the SOALW-branded landfill at the shows and online, the "little slips" from band members re: a new album just doesn't make sense ending in a bag full of nothing to me in any way, shape, or form. That's why I feel fairly certain there is a reason for all this. We know RS to be extremely detail-oriented and involved. My $ is on things being either 1) out of his control in some way or 2) in his control and he's not done yet. There's probably myriad factors we're not at all aware of. So much time, $, and sweat equity have been invested already by many, many people. It's not for me to believe it's all for naught.
HOWEVER, for me the bottom line is nothing in this life is a given and it's totally out of our control. If nothing else, we've had something to anticipate from our favorite band and live performances of new material. Beyond that, we could all die today without a studio release and nothing would change.

Thanks, paleiko! My memory is for sh!t and I don't pay attention.
A statement would be nice. But on the other hand, why disappoint people further? They can't win either way, so they may figure it's better not to say anything. I'm sure they don't relish pissing people off so much.
