Weird choice of single, it's as if they'd released Plainsong as a single. Nice art though.
Yes, very unusual and unconventional choice. But I guess they can afford to give 2 f*cks to conventions at this point.
Out of the 6 songs we know already, "A Fragile Thing" is the most single-like for me, but perhaps they thought it's not strong enough to be given that spotlight.
"Alone" may have been chosen as way of introduction to the album.

Blackpool Illuminations were turned on a couple of weeks ago. Laurence Lewellyn-Bowen (Lol to his mates) designed the artwork in question - Disco Donkey Cavalcade

I'm thinking that they have delayed the album for the benefit of the fans that only like the old stuff. Now the album will be old stuff already on release day.
it's a cool tactic to use something like whatsapp in the marketing strategy but they haven't utilized it enough. just for a snippet of alone. they should be sending messages with lyric snippets, teasing more artwork, something....
