Smith will be doing stuff for the reissues of The Top and Paris and probably another featuring in the months to come, then prepare a few dates for Asia Australia next year, so he doesn't have time to work on new lyrics just yet, so maybe 2016, probably rather 2017... Or rather 2018, that would make it like a follow up to 4:13 (and its deluxe reissue), wouldn't it be nice?
NO, ROBERT, NO !!!

I guess you meant 2026, 2027, 2028?
Robert is 65. I think it's now or never for the new album.
once the new (long-awaited) studio album will be the last one
Some of us have been patient. But the continuous flow of re-issues is pretty frustrating to see. As a Sisters fan I know what it feels like to wait so long for an album so this, for me, is a short moment. But the constant diversions are borderline trolling now
For me the most disappointing point is the lack of any update after 5 years of waiting. Robert could give an update without mentioning any specific release date. Is he still rewriting lyrics? Is he still trying to sing the vocals on some of the songs? Do the songs still have to be mixed? We do know nothing.

It would be nice to have some context, yes. The worrying thought is whether he himself has a clear plan in mind at all or not. It feels to me that things have just got stuck.

Agreed. Not that I think he’s beholden to anyone for an update but there are clearly lots of us who care a great deal and have been excited about the prospect for a long while.
I understand the need to keep a lid on things because if you decide to open your mouth that’s the beginning of rumors, speculation, etc. What gets me is the little teases of information from other people in the band (Roger and Reeves, IIRC), which I’m sure RS must have given his blessing to divulge or they wouldn’t have been mentioned, and then silence.
I believe there are things that may be out of the band’s direct control in terms of timeframe, but it could also be the case that someone isn’t done tinkering or is still in some way not completely ready to let it fly for whatever reason. But all told, you can only keep your hopes up for so long before you start to feel you’re wasting your energy.
ETA: I’m not sure hope is wasting energy but perhaps after hoping for so long you begin to feel foolish, and nobody likes that feeling. 😐
i like how, in the first post of this thread (more than 5 years ago), bob was quoted as saying: “So, yes, we’re going in about six weeks time to finish off what will be our first album in more than a decade. It’s very exciting times for us all around.”
