There is a committee who decides who gets nominated. The criteria are unknown, although, as pointed out earlier in the thread, $$ is certain to play a part.
Most of the committee are not even musicians & they have publicly stated that they don't want the nomination process to be transparent.
Then it is thrown out for a vote by the great unwashed (ie. the mugs who think it actually matters) to make it look like there is some sort of fair play involved.
The committee then decide who they thing will sell the most tickets for the gala dinner & induct them regardless of the voting.
If they are that obsessed with cash, then they could save a bit on their website developers & not have the vote option at all really.
The whole thing is a massive waste of time & you'll find more talent on the wall in your nearest Hard Rock Cafe or Irish Pub.
