On the plus side, they came on after the goals, so if it stays 2-0 they'll not get docked points for goals conceded
Relegation battles & title chases were the flavour of the game week & Friday’s match took us to the London stadium where West Ham all but ended Spurs hopes of catching Chelski with a 1-0 win. Into Saturday &, in the early fixture, Citeh dished out a 5 goal drubbing to Palace, giving Swansea & Hull a fighting chance of leapfrogging the Eagles at the last gasp. However, freshly relegated Sunderland had other ideas as they grabbed an away win. Bournemouth & Stoke more or less ensured safety with a 2-2 draw, as did Burnley. Leicester, who’s ground staff went for another wacky pitch design cruised past Watford &, in the late game, Swansea turned up the dial to win & lift themselves out of the drop zone. The players then decided to be classy & offer fans free tickets for next week’s Sunderland match. The fans, however, proved to be somewhat less classy. Sunday opened with Liverpool vs Southampton where the visitors were kept safe by 11’ foot tall keeper Fraser Forster who made 8 saves including one from 3’ tall Milner’s penalty. The “big one” took place at the Emirates. As Untidy continued their tactic of plodding defensive snooze-ball, Arsenal took advantage in the 2nd half with goals from Xhake & Wellbeck to give Wenger his first competitive win over a Mourinho team & prompting the Gunners bench to break out the Maltesers Chelski bashed the final nails into Middlesbrough’s coffin, winning 3-0 & Conte showed just why he’s one of the league’s most likeable managers…..even if he does stamp on spiders in the technical area Rounding up the week, Arsenal doubled up with an away win at Southampton that puts them in 5th to give them a shoe in the door for a chance of Champion’s League qualification.
As we approach the finish line, the BB&S put on a spurt to land the week by 48 points , as the EIB extend their lead overall to 379 points. Sending out a defiant “going nowhere” message, the is setting up house with Nikolas Vitus Lagartija ’s Damage Dunfermline. Weighing in with 86 points, Crystal Ocean’s 11 grab the .
Standings are..
In H2H land a slim 3 point win makes for a BB&S double as EIB’s lead is whittled down to just 16. The steadfastly refuses to be parted from Nikolas Vitus Lagartija ’s Damage Dunfermline , but Mav787 ’s Bullets & Bayonets are only 4 behind with 2 games to go.
& the table looks like this
So we leave the Stadium of Faith for the week, which is a good job as the neighbours have refused to give the ball back so we need to mount a covert operation to liberate it, although their guard dog could prove a problem. Besides that, mild panic has set in as we remember games start on Friday again & so to some frantic transfers….gulp. Thanks again for dropping by everyone & well played & now over to emilystrange to take us through the cables & the underground for GW37
