C'mon steve , let us know about this trauma you have with The Beatles.
*Musical poison. Sugary boy band cobblers & when they do make a grown up album it's utter nonsense that makes no sense whatsoever. Exhibit A:
Yellow matter custard Dripping from a dead dog's eye Crabalocker fishwife pornographic priestess Boy you been a naughty girl You let your knickers down
What in ever living feck is that supposed to be? Word salad. That's what. & that's supposed to be their masterpiece? Give me a break.
*apologies for any offence caused to the word "musical"
I skipped it. Too busy throwing up & trying to score football tickets. I may try to scare up the Flaming Lips space station concert later but won't be the end of the world if I don't get it. I don't play vinyl much. My fingers don't work real well & I find I drop them a lot.
Got the cure ones for the shelf and the bowie live vinyl. The whole thing gets more of a farce by the year though!
Yep. While I applaud the sentiment of getting folks into independent record shops, some of the rubbish on offer is a total joke.
Problem is, it's not about the record shops anymore. Just a tool for the labels to make some easy money on mostly crap, rehashed material.
I hated going through that nonsense today to get those cure records. As it was I had to clamber over a stand to take them from the shop window just even get copies. And I won't play them, as discussed in another thread they are basically junk, only that as a cure vinyl collector I kind of "had" to get them, felt no joy though from it!

& it's not just the labels cashing in. I'm actually surprised there isn't a #ebayday tag trending on social media the day after RSD because that's where most of the stuff goes. Sometimes the same afternoon.

I know, there were guys in front of me in the queue with lists so varied yesterday and it was all the stuff which would be the most collectible, it was clear why they wanted the stuff!

That is kind of sad G. The no joy part. If only Robert would have his nephews or nieces (I mean has a million of them) maybe start an online The Cure store we could get the stuff right from him. Wouldn't that be cool?

I think the Cure should put out the shows, even if in a limited way. That's how Wilco does it & they are excellent. The Who, Springsteen & Red Hot Chili Peppers release all of their shows digitally & in some cases as cds. What's the harm? I've bought shows from all of the above & the sound is usually at least very good or in some cases excellent. I would definitely buy some Cure shows if they did it & I'm sure there are plenty here who would also.
This sort of thing has ruined Record Store Day. While some stores cannot get their orders filled, others are taking the ticket broker approach. Not good. In the US, the Flaming Lips release I've told some of you about was limited to 2700. Not many. On Record Store Day, you could find unscrupulous stores selling it for 4 times the retail price on Ebay. Feel bad for the band too, as they put the effort forth to put out something original & unique at a reasonable price.
