I got thinking about how amazing the 2016 tour was here in North America. Thanks to the Cure Community, I have a great sampling of the sub-tours across the Pacific and Europe. The band perfected their "standard" setlist, like the Beatles did after playing clubs in Germany for 3 years. So we got the best of the best. I very rarely heard miscues, and Robert sounded great (although some professional magazine reviewers differ on that last one). We got some rarities, and old standbys like The Walk sounded amazing live. Although taper recordings carry a good image, it is still only an image and the live experience I had at the double shows in Miami Florida is something I will treasure for my lifetime.
With that being said, the 2016 tour is over. I think it's best if Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Roger O'Donnell, Jason Cooper, and Reeves Gabrels hang it up and cease touring. I say this because to me this tour actually exceeds the quality of a number of prior tours, sometimes with much younger lineups. I don't want to see the band trying to bang out "Boys Don't Cry" after quick sips of Ensure between tracks. This was a simply amazing tour, and I want the band to go out on a high note and with a bang. They did it all this tour, what stamina, what tuning, what drive! Finish it here, and leave us with memories of a band at the top of their form.
I certainly don't see them doing something on this scale again, but I do think they'll maybe play the occasional series of dates from time to time. Certainly I think festivals will be in amongst those dates. But I think the days of the 3 hour marathons has passed.

I agree with Steve. I was actually surprised they did this tour after Robert stated he wouldn't do this type of tour again a few years ago. I don't think they are done at all but I also don't think they will do another world tour on this scale.
They will continue to play select cities, maybe their favorites...
oh dude (or dudette). i think they have another great tour or 2 in them. this lineup is just too strong. all of the players are at the top of their game. i want a really strong album with tour to support. just listen to it can never be the same & to a slightly lesser extent step into the light. those songs are great! i would prefer not going the festival route & perhaps maybe do smaller venues where appropriate. the fans would pay. also, take a page out of the who's playbook & cut out the back to back shows in different cities. multi night stands in a single city ok back to back because no travel. this will help robert's voice. he's not 60 yet, in fact i'm in the same age range as him. reeves is a little older but that guy is doing a jeff beck & getting better with age. as long as robert enjoys it, he should do it. i don't know about europe but the festival shows in NA didn't go so hot. the typical festival goer doesn't care about the cure here. they'd rather go listen to edm & take drugs. i know i'd pay more for smaller venues (did in las vegas). it was magical. i think there is more robert wants to give. let us hope so anyway!
Not on this scale but I'd hate for them to stop - small handfuls of themed gigs and new material until they physically cant do it/dont want to do it would be ideal!
Well they have to carry on... I've only saw them once, so until I have seen them at least 3 times more on different tours they can't stop. before that, No way Jose. Plus why waste talent, they where in top form.
I'm surprised I actually got a second vote for 'Yea', that The Cure hangs it up after this tour.
I take that other person's vote as simply a measure of the quality of this tour. If the Cure never played again, this tour takes them out at the top of their game. I have never been prouder to be a Cure fan than attending this tour. They played their hearts out for the fans, and I'm sure they were emotionally and physically spent after every performance.
The poll was tongue in cheek, but the sentiment is gratitude for a wonderful tour. Thank you, Robert Smith and team!
The band is really great alive... as well as some of previous line up... I think Robert couldn't take another long tour anymore: I don't know why some people didn't realize how his voice suffered on the last months... I really hope they play live again, but not in long tours like this one... It's only my point of view.
I think they should play live as long as they enjoy doing it. If they make another album why shouldnt they play it live? I think they could do more great shows in the future, many artists are great at old age, and i dont think they are out of it yet. But touring the whole world in one year, maybe not.
