28-29/03 RAH multicam DVD, very cool 21/12 TOP SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!
Not sure about a third, one of the Cox/Ince short sets for the Lovecats rarity value probably but not heard many of the North American shows to compare..
I've no huge collection so I can't do three from each year but Berlin 1980 is just great Two I really like from '84 Hertogenbosch, Holland, May 30th, Where Robert apologises to all the people who bought the bootleg cos he's got a headful of sick! And I like the Oxford gig from '84 Glastonbury '86 is wonderful. I'm curious to see what people come up with for 87 and 89 I remember really loving my Leipzig 1989 boot but just checking now it doesn't look like they played there that year! I'll try find the cd and see what year it actually is:)
On the last months I was reading all over here and there how good, how great, how amazing (and so...) it was the last tour. I Know it was epic (?) in some ways but: I'm listening Wien 2000 concert right now... OMFG
Hard to choose three shows from each year. Some stellar shows are marred with crappy sound quality and some very ordinary shows sound sometimes really great because of great sound quality.
Well, my two cents, I'll complete it here and then.
1985 Cleveland 85. Perfect soundboard and a very energic performance. Highly recommended. Paris 85. A concert in a city very important for the band in the Curemania era. A great incomplete soundboard and and above average complete audience recording.
1986
Royal Albert Hall 86. Remember thinking it is a great show. Very energic performance and great audience recording. Glastonbury 86. Great sound and great performance in a festival where the Cure were the stars. Orange 86. A very famous show officially released. Is it better than the other shows of this era? Don't know.
1987 London last night 87. The last night of the Kiss Tour. The longest show they ever played at the time. Extensive setlist. Sound quality is honest, still not amazing.
1989 Roma 89. A mythical show in a mythical night with a mythical Faith. Everything is said. London last night 89. The same statut as the last night in 87. Extensive setlist. Above average sound quality recording Mansfield last night 89. Don't know if it is a really great show as the sound quality is subpar. Nevertheless, great setlist and still historical show with a very particular atmosphere as this show was meant to be the last Cure show. Could have mentioned the two nights in Houston and Dallas that are stellar shows and amazing sounding recordings or the Dodger Stadium show that was I think the most attended Cure show at the time.
1990 Paris 90. Free concert on "Fete de la Musique" day in Paris. Would have killed to attend this show. But quite bad recording. London Crystal Palace 90. Great show with a quite strange setting. There was a pond between the band and the audience.
