So now we journey to the heart of Spain, to the capital, Madrid.
No-one’s really sure about the origin of the name, but it seems to be linked to bears eating strawberries out of trees.
Steeped in musical history thanks to the likes of Enrique Iglesias & his dad, Madrid was rocketed to the height of fame by hard rock combo, Hombres G, who ( like Sinatra & New York) liked the city so much, named it twice.*
& let’s not forget sport. Madrid is home to two of the most famous football clubs in Europe. Atletico at the Vincente Calderon stadium & some bunch of also-rans over at the Burn-a-bowl.
There’s also a strong Goth link, as the 5th century saw the Visigoths take the territory from the Vandals & the rather terrifyingly named, Alans to rule Hispania.
So staying on the theme of tenuous links, could the New York New York/ Madrid Madrid parallels hint at a Pronography performance? The Goth history certainly points in that direction. We shall see. & so shall gongoro73 , olivier , jeopardy & dannistargirl who will be in attendance after a hearty bowl of Callos a la Madrileña & a few pints of Thor.
