The new song It Can Never Be The Same was so moving, incredible and gorgeous. I had listened to it on youtube and periscopes quite a few times before the show but actually hearing it live was something else. We were really close to Robert and even very early on in the performance his eyes were beginning to tear up until he let out a few tears towards the end. It's just such an emotional and breath taking song, it actually moved me to tears and I cried along with Robert. The delivery was stunning for something so personal and like a lot of fans have been saying it does have quite a Bloodflowers vibe to it. I adore Bloodflowers so this is a very good thing. I loved the song when I first heard it and love it even more now .
WOW! It still has that effect on him. I though that would only happen in the first shows... Now i'm really looking forward to the show in Lisbon. Thanks for that
I can still recall flying in to Sydney International Airport in 2014.
I saw Australian currency with the Queen of England for the first time in my life. What's she doing there? Anyway, the food lounge had a familiar sight, Krispy Kreme restaurant. I ordered two familiar American donuts and sat down to rest after my 14-hour flight.
From first bite I knew something was terribly wrong. The donut was as heavy as Uluru and tasted like it, too. I thought, maybe this is just the one donut, so I tried the other. Same thing, like they had made a heavy lump of dough better suited to a scone than a light, airy donut. I knew then my experience in Australia would be interesting, and set out to try more curious Australian things. Like for instance, the newsstand had an entire tabloid magazine devoted to Kylie Minogue, someone unknown in America. Things were truly upside down, down under...
Okay, just got home so I will say a few words and let you know my impression of the show and atmosphere etc, shall try to keep it brief. I had a seat quite close to Robert's side of the stage and from there I could see the whole band and the arena. It was fun seeing them interact with each other and we often had visits from Simon on this side of the stage. Also had a visit from Roger during BDC which was lovely.
I want to thank the band for such an amazing concert, I couldn't have been happier with their performance, they gave it their all. I felt Rob's voice was a little less powerful at times or perhaps he was saving it a little but still they are the stuff of legends.
The crowd where I sat was a mixed bag, we had some young girls up dancing the whole time which might explain the visits from Simon and Roger . My feeling was that there were a lot of casual fans as they didn't react at all at the times I was losing my mind. I feel so lucky to have heard Plainsong, All I Want, Primary!!!. Robert introduced Like Cockatoos by saying it was inspired by someone who lived not far from here and my god, it was gorgeous! A Hundred Years was savage, like I always wanted it to be. Encore number 1 spectacular, although the audience was just so flat during A Forest, really p*ssed me off. The audience was perhaps the one thing that marred a perfect night for me.I wanted to get up and give them a slap. The reaction to ICNBTS was very warm, people seem to instantly love it. To hear Shake Dog Shake was a gift.
Of course from Encore 2 to whole arena were on their feet and just so into it, I wish they could have warmed up earlier though. Robert looked so happy at the end, tired, yes but very happy.
My highlights were definitely Primary, Like Cockatoos and One Hundred Years. I have a hope that they will start to switch up the encores more and perhaps put BDC back in it's box for awhile.
The band are at the peak of their powers, they are getting better and better and this bodes well, very well for the future.

Ahhhh... Great to know that i was not the only one that wanted to slap people into feeling the concert. Thanks for that lovely recap. Wished I was there to help slap them into it!!

15 years ago, on my only visit to the great southland, I saw AC/DC in a smallish arena at the end of a 7 night run in Sydney. It was the tour where they had the giant Angus statue. Anyway, my buddy & I arrived at the arena to find a thouroghly pissed & riled up crowd. They were literally ripping the urinals off the walls in the men's room. It was a pretty wild show. Sydney was good but I preferred Melbourne as a city. Such a cool vibe there. I did the club scene there & saw a great At the Drive-In. Also went to Big Day Out there. I hear that festival has gone away. Makes me sad, as it was very cool. It was on my b day & I saw 1 of my fave bands on a small stage. You Am I. Such a great band, not well known outside there home. I've met Tim Rogers a few times & had conversations. I'm told that's rare but we got on well. Still keep up with the band via import.
