I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me in the direction of a live recording of the 2016-05-28 show in Ridgefield, WA? I frequent The Traders' Den and DimeaDozen, but (sadly) it hasn't shown up in either of those yet.
I'd also love to find a copy of the Boston 1997 show at the Orpheum Theater, if that exists.
Also, if I can help anyone fill in holes in their collections, I'd be happy to lend a hand. Check out MY LIST (AUDIO) and send me a message! I still need to compile my video list, and I'll post that soon.
welcome to the forum. Boston 97 most certainly exists. A suggestion. Maybe you could add taper info to your list. I'm curious as to the Houston 2016 recording, but cannot see the source/ taper at all.
Hmm ... It might be time consuming, but that's not a bad idea at all. Actually, I like it quite a bit! Challenge accepted - assuming that info is still available, that is. If it's in the info files usually included with the torrents I download, we're golden and I can add it easily If not, I'll have to list it as "unknown" unless I think of a way to retrieve the info some other way.
Including this info would definitely make it easier for me (and others) to determine on an at-a-glance basis whether or not something I find on-line comes from a new source than the version I already have.
While I work on that, I'm more than happy to grab my info files and share any details upon request for any shows.
The Houston '16 show was uploaded to The Traders' Den by user "Migrant" with the note "Audience Video Recording - Thanks to Space City Shows 2 1080p Videos -> MediaCoder -> FLAC Level 0 -> You"
(I've yet to come across a shared copy of the video that would therefore seem to exist)
Here's a mini-sampler of 320kbps MP3s (Push/The Hungry Ghost/Fascination Street/Close To Me) of the audio so you can judge the quality for yourself - not bad at all, I think!
Ah. Oki doki, I know that version from our sharing sections. Yeah, if you have the info & can just add the taper initials or mic/ recorder combo, it'd help both you & other traders on the hunt

as an an example...
your name...like ice into my heart...a shllow grave...a monument to the ruined age...ice in my eyes...and eyes like ice don't move...screaming at the moon...as cold as silence...and you never will say a word...this is my name...and a strange day...ever and ever and ever again......
I keep everything as FLAC on my hard drive, but for the purpose of providing an example of the sound quality and on-line playlist in this case, I created some MP3s to upload to my site.
I assure you, though, I never, *ever* trade or share MP3s with fellow collectors unless it's the only available source I have *AND* it's made clear ahead of time that it's in MP3 form.
And MP3 to FLAC will *never* happen on my watch, I promise you!
Cold-39: Gonna do my best to follow that format, but in the case of the Houston show I have, I listed the only info I had. As I'm sure you know, we're somewhat at the mercy of the original uploaders!
Just as an FYI, I generate those lists with a modified "Export" report via MP3tag, so when you view the files, you're seeing an accurate snapshot of what's actually on my hard drive (file sizes, file types/extensions (.flac vs .mp3 vs .whateverelse). If I run out of space, I don't make files smaller to fit more on my drives ... I just get more drives! My goal, as I'm sure is everyone else's, is always to preserve the best quality lossless files I can.

Have you tried using MediaInfo? It gives info on any audio or video file, if the metadata contains the taper's name etc it will show that. But you probably knew that!
Hey Mort! Yup. I was editing my previous post as you were posting your reply. I use MP3tag, which is essentially the same idea. It's been my experience that most casual tapers don't put that info in the metadata (hardcore, serious tapers do sometimes, but they're pretty rare cases).
And, to be honest, as I've generally "scrubbed" the metadata over the years to be more consistent with my own whims and fancies (99% of the metadata I've kept/edited/generated is included in those directory listing reports, though), so I'll have to go back through each show to see what taper info remains in my text files.
Why do I "scrub" the metadata? Embedded album covers eat up unnecessary space; the plummeting cost of digital storage makes physical media less necessary (so "disc number" and "total discs" and the like are unnecessary when entire shows can be stored in one directory, etc.). Stuff like that. Again, personal preferences and such.
Ah yeah, I sometimes use MP3Tag, I prefer dBpoweramp though. I like keeping all the metadata, if it's not correctly labelled I go on a murderous rampage.
Best not to do any file alteration whatsoever. It renders the file set different & any associated checksums will fail On the disc space issue, I would search for that Houston 2016 audio in its original lossy format (probably 128kbs or however youtube mangles them these days) & delete the flac set. That will save a lot of disc space for you.
