Well, we already have Spain, France & Italy through to the last 16, although the latter made a meal of the match against Sweden, taking 88minutes to break the deadlock.
The Battle of Britain saw England overturn a 1 goal lead after Man-bun Bale’s long range frist half free kick prompted Woy Hodgson to check social media & make the 2 changes everybody wanted him to.
Romania were denied all 3 points by a dogged Swiss team leaving them struggling to make the knockout stages.
In group C, a true bore-fest was played out between Germany & Poland, but Northern Ireland took their first ever win at a European championship over Ukraine, despite having to run for shelter as the teams were pelted with hail stones.
Croatia looked to be on course for victory against the Czech Republic until their fans decided it’d be fun to chuck fireworks onto the pitch. Play resumed & the Czechs won a last minute penalty & rescue a point.
Eden Hazard showed the world what resting for an entire season can do for a person as his blistering pace set up Lukaku for Belgium’s third against a tattered Irish team.
Iceland, thanks to a fairly dubious first half penalty, took an early lead against Hungary, but with 70% of the possession & some fine stops from the oldest goalkeepr on the planet it was only a matter of time before a very attacking Magyar side forced an own goal to level & top the group.
So what could Portugal & CR7 do against the footballing might of Austria? Nothing!. The man with more hair product than a Vidal Sassoon factory makes in a month muffed a late penalty leaving Portugal needing a win to stand any chance of progressing *stifled sniggers*.
In the Millhouse Trophy league, it’s all change as Mav787 tops the table on 132 points, with Kanada_Roby hot on his tail in second with 118 & Mini Mav, Michael, in 3rd with 108.
So a bit of respite as we have until 21:00 CET to sort out the teams for the final group stage matches to decide who makes the cut for the last 16.
Expect Spain, France & Italy to field weird line ups though, as they have already qualified & have nothing to lose.
Lastly, but not leastly, thanks to Mav787 for hosting MD2 on MyHeartland & hoping for a slightly better turnout for MD4
So. On your marks. Get set. GO!
