and now ? how they could overcome this show? was almost perfect, no "wrong number" , the mini extended version of "A Forest", the whole setlist, the voice of Robert, "Lullaby" on encores...Denver takes the lead on this tour.
THE CURE "the band that makes you feel always young"
Thank you steve and EVERYONE for following along and sharing last night! These live reports are so fun for me, and Steve is so right, everyone contributes to making them worth following and posting to!
I'm waiting to board my plane...a good time to write up a review of my experience at the show
It was just amazing. Blown away. The day started off right by meeting some of the kindest and most generous Cure fans waiting at the gate. Because there were 2 gates the five of us waiting since 9am or 10am (when I arrived) were anxious about how they managed doors. A special shout out to Philip, Victor, Roy, Kemal, Jose, and Erin who made the hours pass so quickly on the line! It's only because of Philip and Victor that I got on the rails at all...Cure fans are the best. No joke.
The show blew us all away...of course Bloodflowers was expected due to the sound check, but like others who posted here, the addition of Cold and A Strange Day made the set even more phenomenal. There were tears from Robert on It Can Never be the Same, and it was sweet to see Simon console Robert briefly right after the song. The seventeen seconds encore was....perfect. And an extended version of A Forest was jaw dropping for me. So content.
Others felt disappointed due to no b-sides and no Step into the Light...but I'm not greedy about this one. I had a smile plastered on my face the entire night. Robert may have thought the thin air was negatively impacting his voice, but it was really excellent.
Had a great time. I've only been to Fiddler's Green one time before and it sounded like Shirt. I was a bit closer this time so maybe it was that or I've also heard they've done some improvements to the sound recently...I thought it sounded great (could have been a bit louder).
Only downer is the downer to all Cure shows for me...talkers. Seriously, how can you talk for almost 3 hours straight when you're watching such a great show? STFU!
Recording turned out great (other than the talkers).
Here's a sample. I'll have the rest up sometime this week.
